H.I. originally started out in 2000 as H.I. Installation, focusing on windows, soffits, and other small-scale projects. As time went on, we found that clients, impressed with the quality of our work, were requesting bigger projects. So, in 2004, the company evolved into H.I. Building Contractors.
Our Origins
Shane, our Managing Director began working for a local Horsham builder (EC Andrews) when he was just 17 and completed a 3-year apprenticeship as a carpenter. Eventually, he went on to work in the double-glazing industry, learning how to install double glazing, refurbishment, and more. By his late thirties, Shane decided it was time to start his own business, this business became the professional building company you see today. With dedication and hard-work Shane built a loyal customer base and from there the projects began to grow. In 2007, H.I. Building Contractors built their first house which established their position as specialists in large-scale and lifestyle choice renovations.
H.I Building Contractors is founded on the principle of building relationships, trust, and quality and 80% of their projects are based on customer referrals and recommendations. We relish in seeing how each build brings the client’s vision to life, and seeing how happy they are with the finished build. Being a part of the journey with the client and overcoming obstacles to deliver above and beyond is what Shane enjoys most about this line of work.
Our Experts
At H.I. we have built up a trusted team of experts including electricians, plasterers, painters, floor-layers, bricklayers and joiners. Every member of our expert team abides to the same ethos of quality, so we can trust our team to deliver.
Many of our subcontractors have been working alongside us for 20 years, and they are all local, reliable tradespeople who have built their own reputation for high quality work in the area.
We also employ apprentices. As Shane himself started out as an apprentice, he understands the value of giving young people the opportunity to learn a trade. Many of our apprentices often stay with us after completing their apprenticeship.
